So I recently got engaged and I realized, I'VE NEVER COOKED IN MY LIFE. How in the world am I gonna be a good wife?!!?! So I took it upon myself this year as a New Year's resolution to teach myself how to cook. So for the month of January these are the things I cooked.
Caramel Chocolitas! The dessert of the month. I would give it a 7 out of 10. It's really really chocolatey and you definitely need a glass of milk nearby.
The first meal I made was the sausage fontina frittata. It for me, got a 6 out of 10. It was edible but nothing I wanted to eat again.
Next meal I made was the bean and beef enchilada casserole. This would turn out to be the winner of January. It gets a 9 out of 10. It was delicious. Pinto beans, enchilada sauce, beef and corn tortillas. Yummy yum!
Last week I made the buffalo chicken potato bake. If it didn't have the chicken I wouldn't have liked it. So this meal gets a 7 out of 10. Good but I don't think I'll be making it again.
This week to finish out the month I made the Chicken Parmigiana only I added Bowtie pasta underneath it. It gets an 8 out of 10. I would love to make it again. Since I'm still a learner I didn't do so well on cooking chicken so I'd love to have another chance at it to make it even better.
SO ! The winner is...... The bean and beef enchilada casserole!! Look it up!!! Soooo good! Ill definitely be making it again in February! 😀

Chinatown
So I am on this movie binge trying to watch the Top 250 movies on IMDB. On that list was the above movie called, "Chinatown". I had never heard of it or knew any knowledge of it. But, after halfway through the movie it was apparent to me this movie was going to be blog-worthy.
Filmed in 1974, one of the most memorable moments of this movie was when Jack Nicholson says in front of a woman, "That stupid broad" and quickly right after he let those words be released from his lips, he apologized for saying such a thing in front of a woman. It struck me so, that it made me think of the men in our society. Had a man said, "that stupid broad" in front of a woman today, there would have been no apology. Furthermore, would the woman have been so appalled that she demanded one? Our society is such a contrast from this culture in the seventies. Every time Faye Dunaway stepped out of a vehicle, there was a man there to lend her a hand and help her out of the car. Every time she had to go up stairs, there was a man there to help assist her. Call me old fashioned but I think those are valuable manners that should still be in tacked. It showed their respect for women. Some would say, that's men considering women unable of doing things independently but, I don't see it that way. Now luckily, I live in the South and it's still something you may see out somewhere. Men holding doors open for women or opening car doors to allow them in. But, when it comes to conversation in front of a woman these days, there isn't a boundary, where there should be. What birthed that?
On the other hand, why do men not consider it disrespectful to talk vulgar in front of women? Somewhere down the line they saw it fit to talk as they pleased in front of women. Is it because women themselves have downgraded their appeal, their presence, and their poise? Seems like today, it is also more common to see women cursing out other women than you would have seen in the 70's. Such filthy words were Never to come out of a woman's mouth but, in present times some women find that in their everyday language. It was just interesting to me to see how far we have come in culture in America. Now, I can see how in the 70's, life was a tad bit slower and today it's as fast as can be so people don't primarily look to helping others as they did in the seventies. Nevertheless, it will never be attractive or appropriate to speak filthily in front of women. Seeing a man with a clean mouth just makes him more of a man in my eyes. By the way, I give this movie an 8 out of 10.

Quentin Tarantino
Never thought I'd see the day when I would write a movie critique but, being that I'm dating Mr. Critique himself, I guess it was soon to come. This is definitely going down as amateur but, it's a critique nevertheless.
PROS
I like when directors use the same actors/actresses in their movies. It creates a sense of familiarity and for me, in my head, a sense of family. They jive together and I tend to see them as one big family when in reality I guess it should be called business partners. So that's one pro, seeing the same number of actors and actresses show their talents as different characters.
Another pro of Tarantino's is the filming is always tremendous. I'm sure there are plenty more examples than what I can remember from Django, Reservoir Dogs, and Pulp Fiction but, camera action is memorable and appreciated.
Last pro: the plot. I can say I've never been bored in a Tarantino movie. I like how in Reservoir Dogs it takes you back through the bank robbery to understand what is presently taking place. In Django Unchained, it's a journey for a slave to find his wife along the way picking up bounties on people and then unleashing his wrath on the slave trader who bought his wife. Lastly, in Pulp Fiction, I liked how the first scene starts where the movie ends. As a director, I do have to give him credit that his directing is spot on.
CONS
Profanity
My dad stated the other day, any movie would be just as good without profanity and after thinking about that statement I don't think I would exactly agree. Even with petty cursing we remember lines in movies such as Madea. We don't consider that to be profanity these days but, in some cases, it's still words we wouldn't say in front of our grandparents. Another example of memorable movies with profanity would be movies like The Hangover or Pitch perfect. It's profanity but, the movie wouldn't be the same without them in the lines. In Tarantino's movies, his profanity serves no purpose but to be profane. Reservoir Dogs was ridiculous. There was so much I wanted to quit watching. Django Unchained dealt with it more being set in a certain culture which I can understand and Pulp Fiction was similar to Reservoir Dogs serving no purpose but, to curse. In this case, I completely agree with my dad. These movies would have been more enjoyable with the lack of profanity. So one con down for me.
Murder
Now I understand shoot em' up bang bang movies but, I don't think you can put Tarantino movies in that category. I think he needs his own category. When you watch a Tarantino movie he makes murder seem as a light occasion. Nothing too big about it because nearly everyone in his movies die. He makes murder look comical and I think murder is far from it. Now, I'm sure it looks like I'm reading Wayyy too into his movies but, I sat and listened while people laughed in a theatre as people were shot and killed in Django Unchained. I'm sorry there's nothing funny about it but, Tarantino sure thinks there is. I felt sick wanted to chuckle while people were being shot. It's not right. Now, this might be considered the brilliance of Tarantino as a director and you could argue that for sure but for me, I think Tarantino finds pleasure and comedy in murder and it shows in his movies. I just don't find anything funny about a man dying. Maybe I have too much regard for humans.
Overall, the male population adores this man. Me, I give him respect in the fact that he is a good director. But as a fan, I'm not his biggest fan. Yes, I know there's more movies out there he has directed but for now, these are the only three I've seen and these are what I base my opinions off of. Thoughts?

Bye Bye Twitter! Hellllloooooo Blogging!
Today I deleted my twitter for many reasons....
IN FIRST REGARDS
I never really had any interest in getting a twitter account. I was kind of made to for a class that I had to take in education. I saw no point in getting another social media because I already had facebook. But, nevertheless, I got a twitter account a year ago.
AS TIME PROGRESSED
In taking this class we learned how social medias could be used for professional uses. I'm not going to lie, in the duration of this class I did see how you could connect with one another and tweet educational links and pass on information to one another. I found it pretty cool. We were networking!!!But, just like every class, it ended and there I was with a twitter account.
TWITTER BIPOLAR
As of yesterday, I had a total of 5,000 tweets within a year. That's a little much. I became trigger happy with the retweet button and loved to take part in hashtagging but, I started recognizing a trend in my tweets. Twitter made me feel like a diva. I am in no way an unhappy person but, if you were to read my tweets, you sure enough would think so. I didn't like the tone, the attitude, and the demeanor I was picking up all because of a social network. Twitter is that outlet you use when you're mad and because your entire family is on Facebook you can't really express how you feel, so you turn to twitter. I would scroll through my twitter log and all I might see is angry talk, drama filled tweets not to mention inappropriate retweets from fake accounts of actors and comedians. Why should I feel like when I'm mad I should let the world know on twitter? Whatever happened to if you have a bad day you deal with it yourself? Nah, my generation wants everyone to know and wants Someone to text them for sympathy. I've never had this kind of mindset until I got a twitter account.
SUBTWEETING
Subtweeting is pretty much, "I'm gonna talk about you and call you out and everyone is going to know it but, I'm not going to say your name". Cowardly. A great representation of my generation. We don't like confrontation. In fact, we run from it. Subtweeting is so spot on for my generation and once again I never thought of myself being this way until I got a twitter. I would watch people subtweet about one another and have this whole shabaang dished out online for the world to see when they could text one another or pick up the phone and call if they seriously had that much beef to discuss. Subtweeting is hurtful and wrong and I have taken part in it. I didn't like that.
PRIVACY
Privacy is a word that is now seen as taboo. You don't have a twitter?!?!?! You DON'T HAVE A FACEBOOK!?!?!? People consider you to be weird if you don't put your information on blast on the internet. Call me weird but, I'm taking my life back. I like interaction. I'd rather someone text me, call me, or meet me to hang out to catch up rather than stalking my facebook or tweeting me "watcha up to @Katiecumlander."
IN THE END
Twitter did nothing for me. Sure I saw how it could be used for professional uses but, I'm not there yet. I don't have that circle of people. My twitter log amounted to scripture tweets on Sundays and wastey face tweets on Thursday. It made me think all my friends are bipolar. You'd see them in person happy as could be but on twitter the most depressed in the land. I felt devious. That's not who I want to be.
BLOGGING
I came to blogging because I think blogging can help me with writing. Twitter isn't a tool for skill. But, I think blogging is. I love writing! I can consider this just practice. I also want to have one for my classroom one day so I am in blogging training. :) Hopefully Blogging is nice to me :). I never appreciated discussion topics during high school but that was mainly because I had no knowledge of the topic. But now, though college, I enjoy discussions! Hopefully, through blogging, I can have some entertaining discussions on what I write about with anybody and everybody. I think it sharpens us.
Happy Blogging!!
