Numbers: Israel God's Endless Pursuit

Things I learned through Numbers:

God developed His sanctuary, then he developed His soldiers.

Numbers taught me even more that God is a God of order, justice, purpose, making things new, and quick to forgive.

Each family has a specific job and a specific purpose in ministry and not every family worked in the church. One family served the church. The rest of the tribes had other purposes to serve God. That rings true today. If we all served in the church and Christians didn't serve somewhere in the world, the world would be ridden with darkness. There wouldn't be a standard. And everyone's job was to be their burden.

The Tribe of Levi were set apart for God's service.

Sickness is a direct connection to sin.

Chapter 9 - Stand still in moments of questions and hear from God.

First two instruments - tambourine and a trumpet!

Throughout Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers it is apparent that complaining has brought God's wrath. He is slow to anger but, when blessings aren't enough and we as His people complain about His blessings, He brings His wrath.

Doubt:
We as humans have a hard time believing. We are so quick to doubt, I haven't seen quite the amount of miracles that these Israelites saw and I'm sure it's easy to say these things now but, if I was led by a cloud and supplied with manna from heaven, I wouldn't doubt that Canaan would be a land of everything I needed. Still and yet, the Israelites sent two spies to see the land that they were to inherit. Israel was faithless but still loved. Doubt will not bring you into a promise.

It takes one evil report to ruin a good report.

When things get tough we turn to what is comfortable. Even if that comfort means pain, slavery, bondage or poverty.

Let me just take a moment and say this guy Moses. I mean. Moses was the bomb. His leadership has seriously impacted me. He changed God's mind, twice! Moses loved the people but the people did not love him. Someone will always have their own opinion about your leadership. Moses was chosen with a purpose. Moses prayed in anger. In despair, we turn to blame God and leadership. He was the meekest man on Earth.

Children reap parental obedience or disobedience.

Do not envy position! God always knows who's best for every job and it shouldn't be questioned.

Those involved in rebellion when caught will quickly disappear and leave you there alone.

Just because something may be the popular vote does not mean it is the right vote.

Prayer is most effective for deliverance.

God has no limits to getting our attention.

People will seek out different advice until someone tells them what they want to hear.

Around 600,000 Israelites died in the wilderness not due to defeat, but due to their own disobedience and sin.

Remaining question:
How did Aaron die?
